Target Audience - Film opening

What kind of audience am I trying to attract for my Thriller genre film?

I want to make sure that my film is individual and really attracts my target audience's attention; therefore I want to make sure that the first opening sequence will be full of suspense to emphasise the genre and leave the audience wanting more.  Aficionados (slightly mainstream plus) would be the target audience; they would be likely to associate themselves with specialised film yet are still viewers of mainstream titles.  As I think the film should be individual it would be best that it target an Aficionado audience- who like to see something different, rather than a completely mainstream audience. 

Aficionados are more likely to seek specialised films as mainstream plus audiences; yet would see films that are different such as foreign films or films with unfamiliar cast.  They would portray themselves as seeing specialised only films that are independent yet they are still familiar with mainstream films and would occasionally go and watch one.  My film plot and genre would aim to attract a young adult audience/ late teens.  It would attract an artistic individual that appreciates deep imagination and creativity from a film that's full of excitement and exhilaration with an unexpected plot.  I would imagine my target audience to be someone who really appreciates the arts and film, therefore an exciting thriller plot would really grab their attention.  

Character Profile 

Emily, 19, lives in London studying Media at University

• She has a pet cat and a goldfish, her family live in Epping and she catches a train to University every morning
• Emily wakes up early goes for a jog and eats bran flakes or a fruit salad 
• Slightly fashion concious and enjoys spending money on and music and films
• Ambitious with high hopes for a good career in the future
• She loves music and bands, enjoys socialising with friends
• Enjoys different films - eg. Foreign language films etc.  Finds it very interesting
• Wants to travel the world and experience new things and activities after University
• Emily plays the piano and writes some of her own music
• An ideal night would be a small social gathering or watching films
