The Hangover - Editing Process and Finished Product

As the filming is now complete-  the main end product depends on the editing that can piece all the shots together and make it look like the professional opening.  As we looked through our footage we could see that there were some faults with them; the main being the sudden decrease in lighting as we go through the shots filmed.  This is due to the fact that the light outside had too quickly become darker- with the artificial lighting indoors not being enough for the shots.  By using Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 for the video editing we enhanced the brightness of the videos and edited the contrast so it wouldn't look too dark; evening out the brightness of the shots.

For example this is a scene of Darcie indoors; and the lighting is very poor.

After brightening the shots- therefore the lightening is now even throughout the shots in the scene.

Unfortunately as the footage filmed was so dark; using the editing software to brighten it still didn't produce a good quality as the footage became grainy when brightened.  Therefore we couldn't apply the brightness to all the dark scenes.

Another problem we faced was that the footage filmed outdoors were very windy- therefore the audio was very unclear.  Chris couldn't be heard as the wind interfered; therefore we recorded him speaking again and lip synced the audio over the old footage.  This way he could be clearly heard and we didn't have to re-shoot the scenes and it looks successful.

The boys, Jordan and Hugh worked on Adobe Photoshop CS4 to produce the titling for the opening sequence- in italics like the original film.  We used the copyright images such as the Warner Bros. logo for the opening to make it look professional.  Also, extracted the audio from the real opening scene such as the music and telephone rings to place over our footage that we produced.  This way it sounds like the original setting yet after it stops we can hear our actors talking in  the scenes.  After all the technical strategies were applied to enhance our work and make it like the original; the shots were placed together to make the complete running sequence.  It has worked out very well despite any complication that arose- as together as a team we managed to conquer them and fix any faults.  We are all pleased with the end product and we can now learn from any mistakes made- making sure that they do not happen again.
